LogoUp Supports the USO’s Holiday for Heroes Initiative with Apparel and Donations

Washington, DC – December 11, 2014 – From Al Roker to Hunter Hayes, Trace Adkins to KISS, hundreds of American performers have supported the troops as part of the USO.

Its USO Tours may be the best known of the organization’s support of service members abroad. Yet using donations from individuals and companies nationwide, the USO is able to provide hundreds of valuable programs and services that help troops overseas, military families, transitioning troops, wounded, ill and injured warriors and their families and caregivers, and the families of the fallen here at home.

Contributions to the USO help bring a touch of home to troops serving at home and abroad in some of the most remote locations. These programs include the Holidays for Heroes program that will deliver the comforts of home during the holiday season to troops serving in Southwest Asia and at more than 80 combat outposts in Afghanistan.

Gifts also underwrite the cost of allowing troops in Southwest Asia to make over 2.3 million free phone calls to families back home. They also help distribute more than 1,300 USO2GO bundles – weighing one ton each – filled with Xbox, Wii, board games, sports equipment, magazines and various every-day necessities.

Though they’re hardly James Brown or Stephen Colbert, the Roberts brothers and the team at LogoUp also are on the list of USO supporters. Though no one from LogoUp performs on stage, the company’s support has been vitally important to the USO.

Each Memorial Day, LogoUp donates 10% of all sales to the USO. From the inception of this program to date, LogoUp has donated almost $7,000.

What’s more, upon learning of LogoUp’s support, many LogoUp customers have called or sent emails telling company executives they have a son or daughter in the armed services, or that they are a veteran, and how much they appreciate LogoUp’s support of the troops.

In fact, letters of thanks have come from Brig. Gen. John I. Pray, Jr., USAF (Retired), USO Executive Vice President overseeing programs, entertainment and operations. He is responsible for providing executive level leadership and management in the planning and execution of day-to-day operations and activities throughout the organization. His letter of thanks highlights how contributions to the USO help the organization’s mission of supporting service members and their families.

“I want to thank you personally for the extraordinary gift you recently made to the USO to benefit our men and women in uniform,” Brig. Gen. Pray wrote. “Your donation is one of the most generous that we have received from individual Americans this year. It will make a real difference in the daily lives of our troops. And will help us meet the challenges we face in striving to support the men and women of our Armed Forces serving overseas, as well as their families waiting anxiously at home.”
